The Tufts Climate Initiative (TCI) is the pioneer in the field of climate change mitigation at institutions of higher learning. They suggest:
1. Turn off your computer at night, weekends and when you are not using it for several hours during the day.
2. Turn off your monitor when you are not using your computer for 15 minutes or longer.
3. Enable the Power Management feature for your monitor
4. If you buy a new computer, consider a laptop: it use only 1/4 the energy of a desktop.
5. If you buy a new monitor, consider a flat screen: it use only 1/3 the energy
